Local leader
My name is Philip Tory, and I live in Gloucester
about a mile from the city centre. In response to someone asking me
about my background, here's a brief outline. But I hate laying out
my credentials and don't want this to appear boastful.
- I became a Christian about
23 years ago.
- I started my training as a
C. of E. Lay Reader about 20 years ago.
- I have been a Lay Preacher
ever since - mainly in Baptist Churches, some free evangelical
churches, and others.
- I was baptised at
Cirencester Baptist Church way back when.
- I am a member of Brunswick Baptist Church in Gloucester.
- I expect to be joining the
West of England Baptist Association (WEBA) list of Lay
Preachers.
- I was on the Healing
Ministry Team for 8 years at Harnhill, up to about 10 years ago.
- I was the Local Area
Representative for Mission Aviation Fellowship for the last 3
years.
- I have been on 2 short
evangelistic missions to Kenya, and another to the Ukraine.
- Many years ago, I studied
Physics, Electronics and Control Engineering at university
level, and I have diplomas in Marketing and Management.
- I have been an electronics
engineer; I was in Sales for 20 years or more, and then a
Software Product and QA manager for 3 years.
- Since 2000 I have run a
small but successful business as a Technical Author, writing
technical manuals and creating software help guides for
companies that want a professional job done, and something that
people can understand. I now have over a hundred customers in
about 15 different countries, some as far away as USA, India and
Australia.
